I am an EMDR therapist, chartered psychologist and psychotherapist, with experience of helping adults who are feeling lost and anxious due to major transitions and crisis in their life.
I specialise in supporting adults who have experienced trauma, either as a series of events throughout their childhood/adulthood (complex PTSD) or as a single event (PTSD). My treatment approach can enable individuals to process unresolved trauma and involves an integration of EMDR therapy and psychosynthesis psychotherapy. I have published a book that provides an outline of how individuals can recover from trauma with psychosynthesis psychotherapy (see website for more details http://www.lindahoyle.co.uk).
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, client centred and relational. The outcome of my work with individuals is that they increase their sense of wellbeing, gain insight into difficulties, change ways of behaving and improve their ways of coping. My approach helps people balance their mind, body, feelings and spirit, which can help them to find more purpose & meaning in life and to realise their full potential.
I am UKCP and BACP accredited psychotherapist. I have a Diploma and MA in Psychotherapy from the Institute of Psychosynthesis and Middlesex University. I am an accredited member of the EMDR UK Association. I am a Chartered Psychologist & Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). My PhD in psychology focused on understanding and overcoming resistance to change. I have 25 years experience as a leadership coach, group facilitator, personal development trainer and academic tutor. I am a Chartered Member of the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
