My Approach

I am an integrative and transpersonal psychotherapist. I use a variety of approaches to help clients with their work including cognitive behavioural, emotional focus, psychodynamic and humanistic techniques.

About Me

I qualified as a psychotherapist and counsellor at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, London, in 2006. My private practice is based nearby Chesterfield, Derbyshire. In addition to private client work I also volunteer as a counsellor at Ashgate Hospice. I particularly enjoy CPD training provided by Tavistock Relationships and the Royal Society of Medicine.

I work with

  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Individual psychotherapy can augment and support addiction recovery group activities. Unresolved issues are explored and processed to ease emotional pain. 12 step work can allow increased opportunity to explore issues with self belief and relationships.
Depression is a physical, emotional and mental condition. I will help clients to recognise the contributing factors to their depression and deal with them. This will include observing their internal dialogue and deal with cognitive distortions that contribute to self criticism. We will also identify how issues from the past can help identify patterns of experience allowing an increased sense of agency.
Our closest relationships are often those that cause the greatest difficulty and expose our vulnerabilities. Learning to recognise, accept and express our feelings to more actively engage with those we love in a genuine and open way. Dealing with our tendency to sabotage our chances of success by identifying sources of negative emotion and disarming them.
When we are in despair our thoughts may turn to the idea of God or perhaps seek a higher state of consciousness. However broad or specific your sense of spiritual awareness we work together to enable you to come to terms with the gifts and purposes of your life. We work to help you “see as you are seen and know as you are known”.
Many people experience stress in their work and relationships. I pay attention to the biological responses to stress and help clients to learn how to regulate this. Attention is also given to early life issues that may cause disproportionate emotions in contemporary settings.
