My Approach

As a therapist, my practice is grounded in the principles of safety, respect, and individualized care. I am fully committed to working at my clients' pace, creating a safe and confidential environment where clients can freely explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Regardless of religion, sexuality, culture, race, social standing, neurodiversity, age, or gender, I strive to provide a secure space devoid of judgment. This emphasis on safety and confidentiality aligns closely with my focus on promoting self-awareness and self-acceptance, which are essential elements for any transformative healing process.

One cornerstone philosophy of my work is neuroaffirmative practice. I recognize the deep interplay between psychological and neurological factors, enabling a nuanced, in-depth understanding of mental health. This approach allows me to address not just the manifest symptoms but also the root causes of psychological distress.

My practice is an LGBTQIA+ affirming space, where diversity in gender, sexual orientation, and identity is not just acknowledged but respected and integrated into the therapeutic journey.

Overall, my goal is to guide clients toward not just better mental health, but holistic well-being, offering a compassionate space for growth, discovery, and healing.

***Please note, to ensure that your enquiry is dealt with in a timely and professional manner, all initial inquiries are handled by my clinical assistant, who is dedicated to assisting you promptly and efficiently.***

About Me

Sometimes our thoughts and emotions can feel too much for us to deal with. We may feel vulnerable, lost, torn or stuck, and find ourselves in need of help. Therapy allows us to gain an understanding of ourselves and creates a path towards positive change.

I am a professionally qualified and highly experienced UKCP Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, working with adolescents, adults, couples and groups. Regardless of your gender, sexuality, relationship configuration, religious and political beliefs, I believe I can empower you to make sense of your life, help you to understand your personal challenges and to facilitate desired changes.

My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety & stress, neurodiversity (ADHD, autism), low self-esteem, relationship and commitment issues, family dynamics, addictions, LGBQTIA+ affirming therapy, bereavement & loss, trauma & PTSD.

I also have a keen interest in psychosomatic illnesses, particularly those related, but not limited, to a reproductive cycle such us; PMDD, menopause, perimenopause, post-menopause, etc.

I have extensive experience of working as a therapist with adults, students, and young people at various well-known treatment organisations; NHS, Mind and Tasha Foundation just to name a few.

My modality is Integrative Psychotherapy, which combines different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs and goals of the individual client. By combining psychological theory and research from CBT, Mindfulness, neuroscience, EMDR, Transactional Analysis and Creative Therapies I create a flexible and tailor-made treatment for my clients. The aim is to help clients identify the core of their emotional difficulty, so it can be resolved.

I consider myself to be a depth orientated psychotherapist, aiming to help clients identify the core of their emotional difficulty, so it can be truly resolved.

I can provide therapy in English or in Polish (no translators).

Training, qualifications & experience.
-------------------------------------------
I received my training in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy at the Northern Guild, an institution accredited by both the BACP and UKCP. I further deepened my expertise by earning a Master's degree in Psychotherapy from Birmingham University, where I was honored with a distinction. In addition to this formal education, I also hold a certificate in Clinical Supervision, and have completed EMDR UK & Europe recognised training. Committed to continuous professional development, I stay abreast of the latest research and methodologies by reading current literature and attending industry-specific workshops

Supervision
-------------------------------------------
As a qualified and experienced integrative supervisor, I bring a wealth of knowledge from various therapeutic disciplines to enrich my supervisory work. My approach to supervision is grounded in a deep commitment to the supervisee's objectives, the well-being of their clients, adherence to ethical guidelines, and the continuous advancement of professional skills. Over the years, I have engaged with a diverse array of clinical settings and issues, equipping me with a broad understanding of the challenges and opportunities that supervisees might encounter. Those who work with me often describe me as approachable and dynamic, qualities that I believe foster a collaborative and enriching supervisory relationship. Central to my supervisory style is the concept of 'the use of self,' which encourages supervisees to integrate personal insights into their professional practice. This reflective process not only enhances the therapeutic relationship but also serves as a powerful tool for understanding and navigating the complexities of the supervisee's role.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have a special interest and expertise in working with clients experiencing various forms of anxiety. My comprehensive approach combines evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as in-depth psychotherapy. This allows me not only to address the surface manifestations of anxiety but also to explore and tackle the underlying issues causing it. By understanding the root causes, clients are better equipped to develop sustainable coping mechanisms and build resilience. My holistic methodology also incorporates mindfulness practices and lifestyle modifications, offering clients a robust set of tools to manage stress, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorders. Together, we create a tailored treatment plan aimed at alleviating symptoms and fundamentally improving overall well-being.
In my practice, I place particular emphasis on treating depression, a mental health condition that can profoundly impact all aspects of a person's life—from emotional well-being to relationships, work, and physical health. Leveraging a variety of evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), I aim to help clients identify the underlying triggers and thought patterns that sustain depressive symptoms. I am committed to working in depth to not only alleviate the outward manifestations of depression but also to address its root causes. My approach is to work collaboratively with clients, tailoring interventions to individual needs, while providing a safe and confidential environment to explore and enact meaningful life changes.
I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method backed by rigorous scientific evidence as a first-line treatment for trauma and PTSD. While EMDR's effectiveness in trauma and PTSD has been well-researched, it has shown efficacy in treating a wide array of psychological issues, including but not limited to phobias, panic disorders, and generalized anxiety, somatic issues, and even various forms of addiction. My approach integrates EMDR within a broader psychotherapeutic framework, allowing for a holistic treatment plan. This method enables me to work in-depth with clients, targeting not only symptomatic relief but also the root causes of their distress. By doing so, I empower clients to reprocess disruptive memories and beliefs in a safe and paced manner, leading to more profound and lasting changes. It is my privilege to guide clients through this transformative process, helping them achieve a balanced and fulfilling life.
I also bring a specialized focus to relationship issues, understanding that the term 'relationship' encompasses a wide range of connections—be it couples, families, work groups, or polyamorous relationships. My therapeutic approach is grounded in systems theory, which allows me to address the complex, interconnected dynamics that each unique relationship presents. Whether it's navigating the challenges of marital discord, family strife, or difficulties in the workplace, my goal is to foster healthier interactions among all parties involved. I aim to provide a safe space where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to make transformative changes. By employing a variety of evidence-based interventions, I work with clients to not just manage relational difficulties but to foster deeper, more meaningful connections.
I specialize in providing comprehensive, empathetic care for clients dealing with various forms of trauma. Utilizing a blend of evidence-based interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), along with in-depth psychotherapy, my approach goes beyond merely treating symptoms. I aim to safely explore the underlying causes of trauma at a pace that is comfortable for the client. Recognizing that each person's experience is unique, the treatment plan is individually tailored to meet specific needs and challenges. In emphasizing safety and pacing, I provide clients with the tools they need to reclaim their sense of self and navigate their healing journey effectively. My aim is to create a secure therapeutic environment where clients can make meaningful, sustainable changes, equipping them with the resilience and coping skills needed for long-term recovery.
