I recognise how seeking psychotherapy and counselling can feel daunting. I offer you a place of support to express yourself, and to explore where you are, what works for you and what needs to change. I intend to meet you as you are in the moment, with empathy and without judgement and look to understand what it like to live your life.
Growing awareness enables greater understanding and an opportunity for a different experience. I seek to bring awareness to all aspects of your experience and so as well as cognitive thought and emotional feeling, I look at somatic experiencing to expand awareness further and allow for understanding and the possibility for change to happen in the present.
Relationships mirror back to you all the things that you cannot see on your own, so in developing a strong therapeutic relationship at your pace we can establish safety to explore what brought you to therapy.
My approach is relational-developmental, acknowledging the important role of personal relationships both in early development and in the present on how we see ourselves and experience life. We focus on establishing a therapeutic relationship to explore whatever it is that you might be struggling with, and the unique history and set of circumstances which you bring, and how this is affecting you in the present. Through this growing awareness we can better understand the difficulties and find new ways of coping and dealing with them. I integrate a number of approaches such as attachment theory, object relations, TA, Gestalt, and psychodynamic, within a relational-developmental context.
I am committed to working within a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment which facilitates a respectful and creative therapeutic relationship supporting growth and change.
I am a relational-developmental Integrative Psychotherapist trained at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI). I offer both long-term psychotherapy as well as short term counselling.
