My Approach

My approach is Integrative and my training was Transpersonal as well as integrative. What this means is that I learnt all the different approaches to Psychotherapy and Counselling on my 5 year training course at The Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in Little Venice, London as well as the Transpersonal. This means I have a tool box that enables me to use different approaches depending on the client's issues and personality so I can tailor the work to suit them and help them best. My main approaches are Client centered therapy, the Existential and the Psychodynamic. I treat my clients with 'unconditional positive regard' (Client centered therapy) I help them take responsibility for their words and actions and accept there are consequences (The Existential) and together we look back at the past to see why they relate to people in certain ways, why they have developed behaviours and ways of thinking and being that do not help them and cause them difficulties with relationships and life in general (The Psychodynamic) and I help them understand by looking at their childhood and relationships with significant others why they may carry around difficult feelings and why they still experience emotional pain, disturbance and possibly anxiety or depression or other conditions such as OCD etc. And then there is the Transpersonal which believes that in all of us there is a spiritual place that goes beyond the ego and can help us overcome our difficulties and emotional pain.

About Me

I was brought up in Wiltshire and West Berkshire and moved to London in my twenties and worked as a TV Producer for many years before transitioning to the world of Psychotherapy. I have worked as a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Couples Counsellor for about twenty years and I enjoy my work immensely helping others to overcome their issues, find out who they really are, realise their qualities and potential, and move forward in a positive way. Some of my work is short term counselling for those seeking help with a current issue or difficulty, and some is long term work for those who want in depth psychotherapy and go on the journey of discovery about themselves as well as overcoming historic issues that have been plaguing them for years. I now live in Cornwall but online counselling and psychotherapy is my main way of working at the moment so I have clients from all over the UK as well as other countries in the world.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked with many individuals who have either suffered family abuse, marital abuse and or sexual abuse. This is an area I specialise in and feel strongly about. Nobody should have to suffer abuse or any kind. I can help with working through the difficult feelings, the pain, the effects of abuse and how to recover from the trauma of the abuse and to help with the low self-esteem it can cause as well as difficulties in standing up for oneself.
I have helped many individuals who have come to me experiencing extreme anxiety, sometimes this has gone on for years, other times it is the result of a difficult experience or an abusive relationship or a fear about illness and more. Sometime it is related to a trauma or abuse or bullying or a childhood that made the individual feel insecure and unloved.
I have helped many individuals work through the process of grief after losing a loved one whether it be a partner, husband or wife of a member of a family - mother, father, sibling or child. I offer sympathy and understanding as well as help with a new life without a loved one and to find a way move forward positively for the future.
I am a Couples Counsellor as well as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with individuals. I offer Marriage guidance and help with relationship difficulties for couples. This can be online or face to face. However, currently I am only working online. I help with Divorce as well and separation as well as helping couples resolve their issues so they can come back together and have a better, happier, and healthier relationship.
I have helped many individuals who have come to me with either long term depression,, bi-polar disorder, clinical depression or short term depression caused by either bullying, financial difficulties, loss and bereavement, the break up of a relationship, employment difficulties . relationship problems or a feeling of not feeling good enough or low self esteem. I have experience of working alongside a Psychiatrist for many years so have knowledge regarding the clinical side and medication.
