I am a UKCP Registered and Accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, working with individual adults in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders. I have an Integrative and Transpersonal approach to therapy, and can use different methods and perspectives as appropriate in therapy work. "Transpersonal" means beyond the personal, taking a spiritual, more holistic approach to therapy and healing. I have lived and travelled in India and also spent many years training in martial arts, Yoga, and Sufi Healing and meditation methods - all of which influence and inform my work as a therapist. I am interested in dream-work, and the use of creative imagination, and often utilise breathing and relaxation exercises and meditative techniques all as appropriate.
I have a Diploma in Stress Management (using Cognitive-Behaviour methods) and I have also trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and more recently in trauma therapy. My particular areas of interest are in stress-related illness and burn-out; trauma; working with anxiety and depression; and life-transitions. I have previously worked as a MH counsellor for a specialist mental health service in London, which included Crisis-work and mental health outreach work.
