My Approach

As an Integrative practitioner, I draw upon different theories, models and creative techniques to support my clinical work. Sessions are always carefully tailored around the individual needs of every client. My approach is relational and my core models are Transactional Analysis, Neurobiological linkings to Attachment Theory and Person-Centred Therapy.

About Me

I am an experienced Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapist qualified to work with children, young people and adults.

Experience:
I have extensive experience of working with all ages across a range of settings including the NHS (within GP surgeries and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or CAMHS), educational establishments (within primary, secondary and special schools and also Durham University campus), Durham Constabulary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre and for the charitable organisation 'The Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre/ Rape Crisis England and Wales'. I also have many years of experience as a private practitioner working with individuals and also with groups.


Whilst my specialisms include therapy for children and adolescents and for clients of all ages who have experienced any form of sexual violence/abuse and/or domestic abuse and also pre-trial therapy, I work with a wide range of issues in my clinical practice. These may include depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relational difficulties, low self-esteem, anger, work-related or educational issues, bullying, ADHD, grief and loss, physical illness and mental illness.

Qualifications:
I am UKCP accredited and also registered with the BACP and the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy.
I hold a Masters Degree (MSc) in Integrative Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Child Psychotherapy (DiP CYP), a Diploma in Adult Psychotherapy (DiP Adult), a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling for children and adolescents (DPC) and an accredited qualification for Professionals who work in the Sexual Violence Sector.
I have also obtained the Diploma in Clinical Supervision and am listed as a UKCP Supervisor as well as being an active counselling and psychotherapy tutor.
I am fully insured, hold a current enhanced DBS and am registered with the ICO.
