My Approach

I recognise that while the issues we deal with as humans are universal, each person is unique in how they experience them. Our work will focus on how you are affected by 'depression' or how you experience 'anxiety', words that are commonly thrown around but may mean any number of things to each person.

Our work will involve exploring the issue/s that brings you to therapy and help you deepen your understanding of your dilemma. You might find new ways of understanding your life, and uncover possibilities that you may not have known before. I offer a space which is open, non-judgemental, empathic and through the tools of curiosity and compassion, we undertake a process of exploration and discovery.

I combine evidence-based techniques with more creative, experiential methods, such as mindfulness and meditation to help individuals gain clarity and insight into their issues. The philosophies and theories that guide my practice include Gestalt and Existential approaches, Jungian Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

As your therapist, I bring forward a way of working with you that suits your unique strengths and capabilities in the world. It is my hope that, throughout our work, you are felt deeply listened to and understood in order that you can do the same for yourself. I believe that therapy can be empowering, healing and transformative, and I work collaboratively with my clients to help them find their own answers and create lasting change. Together, we will explore your inner world and work towards creating a life that is meaningful, fulfilling, and joyful.

About Me

My name is Jinny Gupta and my practice in West London offers therapy to adults in-person and online.

I completed my training at Regent's University, London and hold an Advanced Diploma (dist.) in Integrative Psychotherapy (ADIP). My work is informed by the following approaches: Gestalt, Existential, Jungian, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Using mindfulness and compassion, I invite clients to to explore their feelings, thoughts and behaviours, and where helpful, draw connections between their past and their present. I help clients develop self-regulation skills using techniques that honour the mind and the body, when and where possible.

Clients who have worked successfully with me arrive with a host of issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma (PTSD), bereavement, or have faced issues concerning identity, cultural adaptation, meaning and life transitions. As a South Asian woman born and raised in India and now living in the UK, I understand the challenges (and gifts) of navigating different cultures, and the longing for 'home'. My practice empowers other women to find their voice and move towards their truth with confidence and compassion.

In addition to private practice, I work at an Eating Disorder service in Central London (Orri) and also provide therapeutic support to NHS frontline workers. Additionally, I facilitate supervision for individual and groups of trainee psychotherapists at Headstrong Counselling in London. In order to further my interest in the spiritual dimension of life, I am trained as a Mindfulness & Meditation teacher, and work with individuals and groups wishing to begin or deepen their existing meditation practice in a trauma informed/sensitive way.

In the past, I have worked in various mental-health settings such as West London NHS Trust (WLNT), MIND-Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing Abbey Counselling Service (EACS) and West London Centre for Counselling (WLCC). Prior to psychotherapy, I worked as an Economist and Healthcare advisor for more than a decade within governments and private sectors in India, Malawi and Iceland.
