My Approach

I offer independent counselling psychology and integrative psychotherapy services to help young people and adults move forward with their lives. At each meeting I try to understand the issues, beliefs and stories each client brings and what they hope to achieve by coming to therapy. In each session, we collaborate on exploring different evidence-based possible ways to go forward. I use evidence-based talking therapy to try and help with the problem that is causing distress and difficulties. Approaches include working systemically (solution-focused), Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural therapy, underpinned by developmental and attachment theory.

About Me

I have over twenty two years’ experience working in psychological services across the NHS, private and charitable sectors, starting in 1999 as a volunteer counsellor at Childline.

My specialist area is in working in healthcare, helping clients integrate their physical and mental health to live their best life and achieve what is important to them.

My clinical practice is based in Winchester, Hampshire and I offer: an assessment service, one-to-one treatment consults for young people and adults looking for support in living with a physical health condition, and also bespoke group training/workshop days.

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

My doctoral research was on the experience of parenthood, interviewing ten mothers who are visually impaired.
Since 2012 I have worked within the NHS focusing on psychological services that support people living with chronic physical illness, or life altering conditions such as diabetes, cancer, MS. I have a specialist interest in paediatric psychology.
