My aim as a therapist is to work with you to explore the difficulties you are experiencing and help you find a way through them.
People start thinking about therapy for all sorts of reasons. For some it is because they experience a particular problem such as depression, anxiety, abuse, bereavement, relationship difficulties or maybe redundancy. Other people may feel dissatisfied with their lives but aren’t quite sure of the best way forward – they feel stuck. Others may notice patterns or trends which occur and seem to keep happening and which they don’t understand and can’t stop.
Talking to a therapist is a unique experience. Its not the same as chatting to a friend or a family member who may have their own opinion about the situation and you may feel worried about burdening people if you need to talk things through frequently. The therapist is an experienced professional, trained to listen and respond thoughtfully without judgment in a safe and confidential setting.
I regularly work with individuals and couples and can help you explore difficulties such as Depression, Anxiety, Abuse, Bereavement, Bullying past or present, Relationship Problems, Stress, Work Difficulties or a general feeling of stuckness and lack of purpose. I also offer training analysis for student counsellors and psychotherapists and clinical supervision. My consulting room is in the Littlehampton area and there is ample free on-street parking.
I am a graduate and Member of The Guild of Psychotherapists with over 25 years’ experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I have a BA degree in Cultural and Social Studies and in addition to my training as an Analytic Psychotherapist I have also trained in addiction and psychodynamic counselling and group work. I have worked in the voluntary sector, the NHS, Mental Health Services and in private practice, with individuals, couples and groups. My work has also involved setting up and managing community counselling services, the delivery of clinical services overall and the resolution of work related conflict.
