My Approach

I use the foundational approach of Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, which I trained in from 2002-2006. I also use play therapy from my training in 2009-2010, including sand-tray and Art techniques with metaphor and archetypes holding important information for each of us to grow in life.
I have a supervision certificate from the Jungian school Society of Analytical Psychology.
I run groups and individual sessions of family constellations, inspired from Bert Hellinger's observations. I have trained with the Centre for Systemic Constellations and have regular peer support and supervision from the Elders of this tradition. It is a powerful mix of psychotherapy and ancestral healing to help the flow of life be as smooth as possible. It helps us all 'acknowledge what is' and take responsibility for our own fates and burdens, while allowing others to take responsibility for their fates and burdens. This method is inspired by spirituality, psychotherapy and rights of passage at different times of our lives.

About Me

"Know Thyself" inscribed in the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. I have been a psychotherapist for 17 years and a physics teacher for 10 years before that. I love discovering the most beneficial ways to live and to 'be' in life by using the wisdom of my teachers and ancestors before me as well as my own life experience. My Irish ancestors, parents, siblings, friends, my love of sports, my interest in mechanics and physics shaped my early years.
Adulthood came with it's own learnings, from my partner, my friends, the children I taught in my 10 years as a physics teacher before I embarked on a more focused approach to knowing myself through psychotherapy , meditation, family constellations, bio-energetics and astrology.

I am a double Gemini, with an Aries moon and a north node in Pisces/Aquarius so I am intensely curious about life and communicating this to others for the good of humanity. I have a passion about what I do and I love giving others knowledge of the tools that have helped me on my journey of life so far.

I work long term with people who would like to explore the depths of some of the engrained patterns that they feel are holding them back in life.

I also work short -time, and one off sessions are available where we can complete a family constellation together which will help shift some family patterns that have been stuck in your individual system (but may actually belong to others in your system).

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Addictions are usually there because relating to others has become too painful. Addictions can help us 'stay' in relationships, when otherwise we would flee and be even more isolated. The key is to repair our relationship to our vulnerable part that had to hide for good reason. Looking at your addiction as a survival strategy is helpful for you to honour your unique gifts and qualities.
Supervision is needed if you are a therapist or counsellor. I have always maintained that supervision is best when you look at your clients in context of yourself. The overlap of supervision and therapy is very important. Alice Miller always maintained that helping others requires an honest look at why you are drawn to helping others. When you can answer this question, you are more available to help others who ask for your help.
My attachment-based training and subsequent studies have been focused on the trauma that humans experience throughout their life time. Some traumas are sudden, explosive events. Others can seem small , but are prolonged and can cause just as much , or even more , problems in the life of the recipient of the trauma.
