Working with children

I am a dual qualified Social Worker and Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with over 18 years’ experience in direct work with children, young people and adults. I have a wide range of professional experience from practice in settings including Children’s Social Care, Schools, and in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within the NHS. I am also a qualified Systemic Supervisor. I am currently working solely in private practice and based in Bristol. I completed both my Family & Systemic Psychotherapy training and Systemic Supervisory training at the Institute of Family Therapy and Birkbeck College, University of London. In addition to my specialist training in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work.

My strengths include clinical assessment and therapeutic practice with adults, individuals, couples and families, and children and young people, experiencing a wide range of issues including emotional, behavioural, and relationship difficulties. I draw upon a range of systemic approaches in my practice, tailoring my input to meet the needs of my clients, whilst ensuring therapy sessions are accessible when engaging with children and young people.

In life individuals, couples, and families can face many stresses, concerns, and changes that can be hard to manage. When difficulties do not resolve naturally or when it feels like close relationships are suffering, systemic psychotherapy can help. Over the course of the first few sessions I aim to get to know client's strengths, the issues of concern, and other contextual factors that also influence the problem and it’s resolution. Then, together we set goals for the therapeutic work and decide how often to meet. The number of sessions needed will depend on the individual/couple/family and the issues being brought but I do offer both short-term (4-6 sessions) and long-term (10-12+ sessions) therapy. Please note that I am only offering online sessions at present.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or if you would like to set up a phone call to find out if my approach might be a good fit for you/your family- Or visit my website- for more information about my practice.
