My Approach:
My training was in transpersonal integrative therapy so I draw upon numerous modalities with clients. I try to cultivate a warm and empathetic ‘Humanistic’ way of working informed by ‘Psychodynamic’ principles. This allows for the clients less conscious world to play out in our work together, highlighting patterns of behaviour and allowing for change.

What tends to transcend any theoretical approach is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist. Research seems to show that positive outcomes in therapy tend to be based more around a good fit between clients and therapist rather than any specific approach.

Who I Work With:
Clients bring a variety of presenting issues like depression, anxiety and grief. They also bring issues related to anger or passivity or trust. Some clients also feel their lives lack meaning or they find themselves lost and need some time and space to re orientate.

Many of my clients are tipped into therapy because of a relationship issue, breakdown or challenge as this can be a major catalyst for change. Other longer-term clients are struggling with a path into mid life and have reached a stage in life where they can no longer put off changes they somehow know are destined to come.

Initial Assessment:
The first steps into therapy are not always easy and are sometimes accompanied by feelings of vulnerability and insecurity. However the first session is often experienced as a relief and can be quite cathartic. It is an opportunity for you to share the reason behind you coming into therapy and to get a sense of the way I work.

What’s most important is to get a feeling of the dynamic between us and to see if you feel comfortable in my presence and if I’m someone you feel able to explore issues with.

About Me:
After completing a one-year course in the foundations of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Minster Centre I trained as an Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education.

Before qualifying as a psychotherapist I worked in factual television for over 20 years directing and producing for terrestrial broadcasters.

Cost:
The initial session will last for 50 minutes and will be free of charge. If we decide to work together the sessions also last 50 minutes, take place weekly and cost £45 per session.
