My Approach

I offer Integrative counselling, psychotherapy and supervision in the Dundee/ Newport-on-Tay area. With over twenty years experience, I work with people in a confidential, safe space so that they feel heard, understood, supported, and move towards self understanding and acceptance. I have worked and enjoy working with people from a wide range of ages, genders, and the variety of issues they come to me with, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, losses of all kinds, and general desire to improve one's life whether through change, acceptance and/ or self-compassion. Within the initial session or two we would decide whether I am the right person for you and how we work together. I look forward to meeting you!

About Me

I enjoy counselling because of the relationship it creates between me and my client. In a safe space, when my client feels heard, understood, and supported, I find they move towards self understanding, acceptance and awareness, and thereby feel they have more choice. I am an Integrative Therapist having trained at the Minster Centre in London and have been UKCP Accredited and Registered since 2002.

I volunteered for CRUSE Bereavement Service from 2001-2012. So my particular interest and experience is in working with loss in all its guises. As part of my training, I also worked in a tertiary care day centre in the NHS. This gave me vast experience in working with adult survivors of sexual abuse and adults with mental illness, including depression and anxiety.
At present, I works for Rowan and in private practice. I also supervises other counsellors.

I combine psychodynamic and humanistic styles of counselling, which would include person-centred, solution-focused, CBT and other approaches, depending on what feels most appropriate to your needs. My experience is both in short-term, focussed work and in open-ended long-term work.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I volunteered for many years with Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland both as a counsellor and as a supervisor, so I consider loss in many forms a speciality, whether ist w=be loss of a person dear to you, or a job, or a major change in life which always includes losses/
I have worked for many years as an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) affiliate and as such encountered many people with workplace stress, as well as anxiety and depression.
