I practice Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy. This is a therapy where the client and the therapist work together, focussing on what is getting in the way of living a full and satisfying life. Of course, there are always difficulties [often emotional] and sadness, life is never a 'bowl of cherries', but so often individuals find it impossible to find inside themselves the best way to deal with them.
ISTDP is a joint enterprise. The therapist is actively engaged, the client determined to overcome the self-destructive ways he or she has learned. People don't choose to be unhappy and the possibility of finding another way to live can inspire and excite.
