I've been accredited by the UKCP, since 1997, as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I work in private practice with individuals and couples. Before that, I've worked in a broad range of settings in addition to working privately. These include Chase Farm Psychiatric unit, Post Adoption Centre, Mind and London Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Being listened to intently, by someone with an open mind and without judgement, can be transformative. Therapy can be a relief and bewildering, sometimes painful. A psychotherapist can hear both what is spoken and what is difficult or can't be put into language and can help bring these experiences and thoughts into the open, so they can be made sense of. The experience of being heard in this way can be profound, moving and freeing. Life becomes more enjoyable and work, friendships, family and relationships become easier and more meaningful.
I now work only in private practice with individual and couples. I also supervise people working as, or training to be, counsellors, psychotherapists and psychoanalysts.
When we meet for an initial consultation we will talk about what is troubling you, as well as practical aspects such as fees and session time(s). A session is 50 minutes. I see people usually for the long term, but also on a short term basis - this can be once or twice a week, occasionally more frequently.
Where I am located is very well served by transport which means my consulting room is easily reached from all parts of London. Bounds Green underground (Piccadilly Line) is 10 minutes walk, Bowes Park overground (from Moorgate, via Highbury and Islington and Finsbury Park) is 5 minutes away. Green Lanes and the North Circular Road are close by. The A10 is nearby from east London. There's also free parking.
