My Approach

I have an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. After my degree in psychology at Rhodes I studied for five years with the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust in London where I was also part of the Assessment Clinic. I also trained with the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling where I completed the advanced Integrative and Humanistic diploma, and at Regent's College in London where I completed the advanced diploma in Existential Psychotherapy. I then worked at the Richmond Fellowship where I trained in group therapy. Latterly I qualified as a Jungian analyst with the Association of Jungian Analysts, also in London.

About Me

I have been working as an existential psychotherapist for over thirty years. I am also a qualified Jungian analyst. I have several books published, 'Going Mad to Stay Sane', is a transpersonal and humanistic approach to self-destructiveness. 'Abundant Delicious,' is a reinterpretation of the Oedipal story along Jungian lines. I am interested in myths, fairy tales and dreamwork and recently had an article published in the Russian Journal of fairy tales about the role of the shadow in the individuation process and contributed a chapter to the recent publication, 'Depth Psychology and Climate Change', published by Routledge. I have a blog, (www.andywhiteblog.com) a collection of over three hundred essays on the lost goddess which retells Fairy tales from around the world linking them to contemporary issues, particularly to the suppression of the divine feminine.
I live and work in North Devon but have been working on Zoom and Skype for many years. My fees are between £65 and £150 pounds an hour depending on your circumstances

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

ADHD is a growing concern which reflects the turmoil of our contemporary world. A regular, dependable, quiet and reflective space to tease through the underlying issues is needed to resolve this complicated affliction.
At the root of many of life's issues lie difficulties with anxiety which are often impervious to reflection and require the attention of an analytic frame to resolve.
I have twenty five years experience working with eating disorders.
I have a special interest in the difficulties arising from the spiritual journey, in how we embody soulfulness in our daily lives, in the crisis of meaning and purpose which is often part of this journey and work extensively with dreams and fantasy material to facilitate this process.
