About

The Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) is a registered charity and a national association of around 1000 members.

ACAT’s aims are:
Educating health professionals and promoting proper standards and good practice in cognitive analytic therapy;
Increasing awareness and understanding of cognitive analytic therapy amongst health professionals, service providers, and the public.

ACAT offers and oversees accredited courses in cognitive analytic therapy:
CAT Skills Case Management Certificate
CAT Foundation Certificate
CAT Practitioner Diploma
CAT Psychotherapist Advanced Diploma
CAT Supervisor Certificate

ACAT also offers introductory workshops and CPD (continuing professional development) events. Local or special interest groups within ACAT may offer such introductory courses, or other CPD events.

Courses Offered

  • Inter-Regional Residential ACAT Psychotherapy Training (IRRAPT):, Psychotherapy training enables CAT Practitioners to become Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapists via an additional two-year assessed course, which leads to eligibility for registration with the UKCP. Applicants to the psychotherapy training must have completed a two-year CAT practitioner training.
