The Minster Centre is delighted to announce that it has launched a new post qualification training programme that is designed to meet the developing needs of counselling and psychotherapy professionals.
The MA in Professional Practice, Counselling and Psychotherapy, has been validated by Middlesex University and aims to meet the requirements in the field for advanced practitioners with particular professional specialisms.
Qualified therapeutic practitioners are able to select one of three professional strands depending on their particular needs and interest. Each strand has a professional practice component. The strands are:
- Supervision (this strand began delivery in January 2015)
- Managing a Clinical Service (this strand began delivery January 2016)
- Advanced Integrative Practice (this strand began delivery January 2016)
The programme is designed to be flexible and students are able to register for either the postgraduate diploma option or the two year MA. The latter will involve carrying out a small scale research project on a topic relevant to the chosen strand.
The Minster Centre is confident that this programme represents an innovative contribution to post-qualification training in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. It offers an opportunity for counsellors and psychotherapists to develop professional specialisms at Masters level. Students who successfully complete the Minster Centre postgraduate qualification in professional practice, counselling and psychotherapy will be well-placed to meet the increasing demands of the occupational field. Furthermore, it is hoped that the research produced by students on this programme will begin to shape some of the thinking about professional practice in the wider field.
