Staff spotlight: Dora Beggs

Dora joined UKCP’s Regulation and Quality Assurance Team in 2010. She previously worked for over six years at Citifiancial, latterly in their policies and procedures team in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, she also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and a local soup kitchen.

Her first role in the UK was at Comic Relief where she worked on two campaigns: Sport Relief 2008 and Red Nose Day 2009. As a result of her roles at Comic Relief and other volunteer opportunities, she felt strongly about continuing to work in the charity sector. Her time at UKCP has built on that passion, making her an advocate for better understanding of mental health.

Dora now manages the Regulation Team and oversees the Registrant Sample Audit process and the quality review processes of organisational members and applicant organisations. She has written quality assurance procedures and reports, processed applications for the European Certificate for Psychotherapy, and collaborated with many individuals and organisational members of UKCP over the years.

In her tenure with UKCP, she has worked closely with various committees including the Professional Conduct Committee, the Membership Committee, the Education, Training and Practice Committee, and the Practitioner Research Network. For the past several years, she has provided support and advice to UKCP’s Ethics Committee. She has recently been responsible for the project management, consultation, and introduction of the new UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.

Dora and the Regulation Team’s responsibilities are essential for maintaining and quality assuring the standards, guidance and policies that form the regulatory framework of UKCP.
