I joined as UKCP’s Head of Operations earlier this year. I experienced growing up with family members who had poor mental health, which is why working at UKCP, with its vision of wanting ‘a world in which emotional and mental wellness is a human right’, was so appealing.
I began my career as a chartered accountant, but being more of a people person, decided to make a change. That is how I found myself working in a charity supporting deaf people with additional needs such as learning disabilities and mental health challenges. I rose up through the ranks to lead a team of approximately 60 staff supporting this niche group of deaf people, empowering them to live independently in the community. Later, I was promoted to Quality Manger and worked alongside the executive team and middle managers to promote quality and compliance throughout the whole organisation.
Recently I qualified as an HR professional. This means that all my knowledge, skills and experience gained throughout my career to date is encompassed within the variety that the one role of Head of Operations entails.
For my own emotional and mental wellness, I like to challenge myself intellectually and physically, setting myself goals for learning and developing alongside regular workouts with my gym buddies. Greece is a regular holiday destination and I hope to visit Switzerland some point soon to see my son who started his own new adventure in Zurich just as I started mine at UKCP.
