Staff spotlight: Andy Shuttleworth

I am a Membership Specialist at UKCP, having joined the Membership Team from a similar role at PRS for Music (the royalty collection society) in March 2018.

I come from a musical background and moved to London from County Durham in 2010 to study for a BMus in Popular Music Performance at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. There followed a period of touring in bands before I decided to get a proper job with PRS for Music. It was there that I first experienced working in a membership environment and found that I really enjoyed being able to answer queries and solve problems.

Away from work I play in a couple of bands and am a season ticket holder at Sunderland AFC (unfortunately), travelling up every other week for matches. In my younger days I had a trial at Sunderland to become a goalkeeper, but let in nine goals in the first half and was taken off at half time, so my failure to make it as a professional footballer probably hasn’t affected the fortunes of the club too much …

I moved to UKCP in March 2018 and really enjoy the interactions we in the Membership Team have with members. My role comprises supporting both our individual and organisational members. It is very rewarding to know that the members that we are supporting are making such a huge difference to peoples’ lives.
