Alan is UKCP’s Registrar. He joined UKCP in 2005, having previously worked for the General Medical Council.
Since joining, he has become fascinated by the relevancy of psychotherapy to everyday life and impressed how psychotherapists are able to use the various types of psychotherapy to make real differences to lives.
Alan’s main priorities are make sure the people on our register are aspiring to meet the highest professional standards, and to help UKCP maintain and enhance our robust regulatory standards so the public has confidence in the people we regulate
To achieve this Alan works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure UKCP has the required processes and procedures in place. Alan also has a close working relationship with the committees that play a vital role in overseeing UKCP’s regulatory processes and the setting of standards.
Alan has also been involved in helping UKCP prepare for General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). This work has included creating new policies and setting up a GDPR web page to provide help to members.
Although Alan’s role in ensuring our registrants meet our standards has a serious side, he always tries to be helpful and approachable.
