Martin Pollecoff, Chair

Martin is a psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice with extensive management and marketing experience.

Martin was elected Chair of UKCP in March 2016. He was previously a member of the UKCP Executive Team and the Editorial Board. From 2012 – 2015 Martin was a trustee of UKCP representing Individual Members.

Andy Cottom, Vice Chair

Andy was elected Vice Chair of UKCP in 2018. He was previously a Trustee and Chair of the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis (CPJA).

Andy is a psychodynamic psychotherapist with a particular interest in helping men and women who have experience of violence.

Inger Gordon, Chair of the Membership Committee

Inger is a family and systemic psychotherapist working in the NHS and in private practice undertaking therapy, teaching and supervision. She has been involved with UKCP since 2005 when she became a delegate of an organisational member. She has served on the Ethics Committee, and chaired the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy (CFCST) for many years. She was appointed Vice-Chair of the Professional Regulatory Committee of the Colleges and Faculties in 2010 and served as its Chair between 2012-2015. Inger has sat on the Board of Trustees for two terms of office and was awarded Honorary Fellowship of UKCP in March 2016.

Fiona Biddle, Chair of the Education, Training and Practice Committee

Fiona is a hypno-psychotherapist and supervisor working in private practice. She has been involved with UKCP since 2007 when she first served on the Education, Training and Practice Committee. She has chaired this committee since 2013. She is a previous chair of the College of Hypno-psychotherapists and served on the Board of Trustees. Fiona was awarded Honorary Fellowship of UKCP in March 2016.

David Fitzgerald, Treasurer

David is a tax and business consultant and lay trustee.

As Treasurer, David’s role is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure the financial viability of the organisation and guarantee that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.

Sarah Niblock, UKCP Chief Executive

Sarah joined UKCP from the University Of Westminster’s School of Media, Arts and Design where she was Associate Dean (Undergraduate).

She has a PhD is in psychoanalytic theory/female identity and is an author, journalist and broadcaster who has trained a number of award-winning journalists. She is also an Academic Fellow of the Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma at Columbia University – and blogs on media ethics, specifically trauma and journalism, for a range of outlets including the BBC.

As Chief Executive, Sarah leads the Senior Management Team and staff, and helps shape our organisation to play a leading role in the mental health sector.

Alan McConnon, Registrar

Alan previously worked for the General Medical Council and his background is in regulation. However since he has been at UKCP, he has become fascinated by the relevancy of psychotherapy to everyday life and how psychotherapists are able to use the various philosophies of psychotherapy to tackle issues and make real differences to lives.

As Registrar, Alan is responsible for working with relevant UKCP committees in maintaining the integrity of the UKCP registers, ensuring processes and procedures are in place to obtain the information relevant to supporting an individual’s application to UKCP and overseeing the annual random audit of individual members.
