Standards of Education and Training for Child Psychotherapy

UKCP Education, Training and Practice Committee
Stakeholder Consultation for the revised UKCP Standards of Education and Training for Child Psychotherapy

UKCP’s Education, Training, and Practice Committee (ETPC) has revised the UKCP Standards of Education and Training for Child Psychotherapy, and these are now ready for consultation.

We periodically review our generic Standards of Education and Training documents. Our aim is to ensure clarity about the minimum standards and requirements underpinning psychotherapeutic training for work with children, and coherence in its structure and content.

The UKCP Criteria for Mental Health Familiarisation in Child Psychotherapy Trainings has also been drafted, taking the adult version of the document as a starting point.

Change of this kind affects UKCP students and trainees, trainings and trainers, the general public who may be considering psychotherapeutic training, and the wider psychotherapeutic community.

Who we are consulting

We seek representation of a broad spectrum of views from within and without the organisation

This consultation process will begin on 4 December 2018 and end on 1 March 2019. It is intended for UKCP internal and external stakeholders, including UKCP members (both student/trainee members and organisational members), committees, faculties and colleges, and the general public.

If you are a Committee Chair or officer, please ensure that there is space during the consultation period to discuss the new draft code and formulate feedback with your committee colleagues.
