My Approach

Types of therapy that I have experience with: Integrative, Humanistic, Person-centred, Gestalt and experiential drama therapy, Relational, Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Art Therapy and Somatics - I believe the body is an useful barometer in understanding how emotions, thoughts and behaviours emerge. I have a warm, playful approach and use a variety of experiential activities when relevant - this can include art, creating writing and drama therapy techniques.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
I provide a space for individuals to talk through past and present experiences, to release what has gone unspoken and what has weighed you down. We explore buried reasons for why you may feel the way you do and to give you agency to behave in new, undiscovered ways. We spend time adventuring into the body, into what it remembers, and we will consolidate information to better understand who you are and what you are seeking. Using therapeutic tools we will discern new coping strategies to aid growth and release.

COUPLES IN COUNSELLING
I have experience working with marriages in crisis, couples working through separation, and couples working coming to terms with long term health conditions. I trained in the IAPT model, supporting partnerships struggling with depression.

Our couples’ therapy follows a structure, and will involve occasional one-to-one meetings with myself. We will reveal and consider attachment patterns emerging in your relationship. We work towards the discovery of personalised behavioural methods that will direct you into an attuned and compassionate dynamic with each other. Couples therapy is a fascinating process - each individual needs to be heard and I am careful to maintain this balance, whilst we approach your relationship like a third entity itself, needing nurture through the thought and actions of each partner.

About Me

I would like to offer you compassionate and engaging talking therapy that allows in a mixture of therapeutic methods. This is core to how I work: no individual is the same so no course of therapy will be the same. You as client will lead our sessions and your natural way of being will inspire how we work together. I believe our therapeutic relationship can form a trustworthy foundation for insightful exploration. We will develop a secure and safe playground wherein we gather insights about relationships are like for you in the outside world. I highly value the diversity of cultural backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, sexual preferences and political opinions that step into therapy. I will bring my responses into the room when useful. I hope to facilitate you to challenge yourself to make creative choices with the material that you are bringing.
