My Approach

Psychological wounding isn’t generally just something that needs fixing but rather can be seen as a hidden guide to what is truly unique about an individual. Therapy at its most effective can be seen as a kind of alchemical container for the human soul to transform every day suffering into compassion and meaning. We might reimagine the exploration of emotional pain as a non linear and non literal journey towards ever deeper levels of soul awakening.

About Me

You may think of counselling as a way of finding some support through life’s difficulties and that is certainly valid. But what if the therapeutic journey also allowed life to reveal itself to you in exciting, satisfying, challenging and sometimes scary ways? One could perhaps re-imagine it as a mythical struggle born of the desire to be free from pain but ultimately pointing to a deeper understanding of what it is to be alive.
Therapy is a relationship, I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is responsible for much of the healing that takes place, the deeper the sense of trust the greater the chance of change. For me it is a privilege to witness someone like you as you start to trust that you can allow who you fully are to emerge and having someone to accompany you on that journey makes all the difference.

For 12 years, starting in the late 90’s I helped create a charity that pioneered outdoor camping retreats, an experience that shaped and inspired my Buddhist influences. Later I felt drawn back to to the Psychological and the Soulful and a powerful Transpersonal Training at Re-Vision in London. I enjoy living in rural Devon where my interests include Tai Chi, Improvised acting, Dancing and still think I can play a bit of football!. My counselling practice is grounded in over 30 years of personal growth work and inspired by the Human capacity to be ever more present with life’s rich experience. I have been working as a Therapist since 2012 and in Private Practice for nearly 10 years.

I work with

  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Alongside working with Depression I have particular experience with Anxiety, separation and client's suffering from OCD, Bipolar and Trauma
Over the years I have worked with numerous Men on their Relationships with Women. Couple’s Counselling is useful but often it’s important for men to start learning how to express themselves relationally and one to one work can be a very helpful place to develop the emotional awareness that so many men struggle with.
Having been strongly connected to a variety of Spiritual, Psychological and bodywork approaches at different periods in my life I am interested in our attachment to meaning making and benefiting from various modalities with our imagination and flexibility rather than more literal interpretations.
