Home is where the heart is and forms our personal and interpersonal foundations. I am passionate about the value to our health of a loving family, and I have almost thirty years experience supporting and empowering families with under fives. Together we can explore and discover the fundamental roots of issues to create positive change.
My training, practice and interest is as a systemic practitioner, where each family member is considered alongside their system and their interrelationships with each other. Systemic family therapy has been found to be effective for children's and adults' difficulties, both when individuals have acquired a mental health diagnosis and when there is more general or complex distress. It is effective across the lifecycle, spanning developmental stages from under fives to old age. Working therapeutically with individuals together or with their families and/or significant others enables the use of individuals’ relationships as a resource, and reduces stress and difficulties for all family members.
Frequently children may experience problems, yet it is their sibling who may wish to talk.
I have worked in both the NHS and private practice and my aim with working with families is to facilitate an understanding of their relationships with themselves, as individuals within a couple, their families and their wider personal, cultural and professional contexts.
I am happy to visit you at home, and also to visit young children in their pre-schools or nurseries where I have extensive expertise having owned a nursery. School and home visits significantly reduce stress and allow us all to gain a clearer picture.
