Event Details2010 UKCP Conference - Self other and society3 September 2010 - 5 September 2010UKCP had planned a major three day conference in York in September. The conference was to have addressed Self, other and society, at a time when psychotherapeutic work needs to reach people in settings beyond the traditional clinical practice. Unfortunately the number of bookings has fallen well below expectations, and UKCP chief executive, David Pink, has decided to cancel the conference to protect the charity from financial risk. The conference was also to have included two UKCP Assemblies, which would have provided a new forum for engagement between members and UKCP officers. Commenting on the cancellation, David Pink said "I am very disappointed that we will not be having the York conference. I thought we had a very exciting conference programme. And we always welcome every opportunity to talk face-to-face with psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors who are the voting members under the new UKCP constitution. We do not know why we had so few bookings. If there are many people who would have booked at the last minute, then we have a problem, because the charity cannot cope with the financial risk that poses. We must reflect and learn." UKCP is commissioning a survey in order to establish what factors are influencing and deciding the bookings for our events. The survey is available here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/QFB32L5 |
