The Psychotherapists and Counsellors Professional Liaison Group (PLG) is an HPC project group making recommendations to the HPC on the future regulation of psychotherapy and counselling.

This was the final scheduled meeting of the PLG prior to the work of the PLG being presented and discussed at a full Health Professions Council meeting on 6 July 2009.


UKCP response Standards of Proficiency (SoP) for Psychotherapy

The following document (Draft SoP for Psychotherapy) is the current response to the draft Standards of Proficiency being considered by the HPC PLG. They were submitted to Michael Guthrie (Acting Director of Policy and Standards at HPC) by Kathi Murphy and Carmen Ablack. They have been written to help in making the case for a separate profession specific protected title of Psychotherapist. The document takes into account feedback from several practitioners and groups.
