Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy - NLP was developed in the early 1970s with the study and analysis of several very different and highly effective therapists and their modes of operating. This led to a study of the way subjective experience is coded and can be interpreted through language patterns and physiological changes. Through enabling clients to recognise the effects of unconscious patterns of behaviour, beliefs, memories and goals and to make appropriate interventions where these patterns have not been useful, a process of lasting change is initiated. Therapy is often brief and is always outcome focused. A high priority is given to ensuring that the client ends each session in a more positive and resourceful state. Organisational Background - Formerly called ANLP Psychotherapy and Counselling Services Ltd (ANLP PCS), the organisation was first constituted as the Psychotherapy and Counselling Section of ANLP in 1992. Subsequently the organisation became a founder member of EA-NLPt, the European Association of Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy. The Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy & Counselling Association (NLPtCA) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with a democratic structure.
