HYPNO-PSYCHOTHERAPY SECTIONNational School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy N-SHAP Organisational History Training Course Selection & Admission Students are expected to be at a post graduate level of education but the lack of a formal degree will not preclude acceptance onto the course. An open mind with a willingness to learn combined with a compassionate attitude is a major requisite. Training Course Requirements Supervision Formal supervision is required when a student/graduate works with clients. This must be observed in compliance with UKCP requirements. Written work A personal development journal is maintained throughout the course. There is further written homework on some weekends. Attendance Full attendance is required. If a day/weekend is missed (with permission) this must be made up with one of the tutors at the students expense and at a time mutually convenient to both student and tutor. On going assessment of practical applications of techniques taught. Short written assessment in Month 4 of training (exam conditions). Practical and written examination on the last weekend of the course with external invigilators and examiners.
Theoretical orientation An eclectic training course with a strong affiliation to the Ericksonian style of therapy. Each person, has within them the resources to heal them selves, with the aid of a skilled helper. The main perspectives in psychology and psychotherapy are introduced and discussed. Discussion is encouraged to examine where they coincide and differ. The growth and personal development of each student is important within the course. The course is very practical. The components of the course consist of a lecture or explanation of interventions/methods followed by a demonstration and then student practice. The outcomes are discussed as a group. Assessment is on-going on a day to day basis, plus home study with both a written and practical examination at the end of the course. The course may eventually lead to UKCP Registration Accreditation, graduation, membership Accreditation by UKCP with the possibility to attain UKCP Registration if the approved pathway is followed. Optional possibility to gain HPD (ncfe awarded Diploma) in addition to N-SHAP Diploma. Code of ethics/ethical principals N-SHAP complies to the UKCP code of ethics and believes that all people have the resources to heal themselves with the aid of a skilled helper and the will to change. Every person and their beliefs should be treated with respect and dignity. Full confidentiality (except those precluded by law or the principal of "greater good") will be maintained at all times.
