HYPNO-PSYCHOTHERAPY SECTIONNational College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy NCHP Contact Name: Shaun Brookhouse or Fiona Biddle Organisational History NCHP has its roots in the work of Peter Blythe who started training health professionals in 1977. He and Harry Bailey-Marsden then expanded to include lay practitioners and they formed the Blythe Tutorial College, the forerunner of NCHP. In 1984 Harry Bailey-Marsden sold the college to Peter Savage, John Hoyle-Wood, Michael Holahan and Denis Hunt, tutors of the college and remained on the board. Peter Savage, the major shareholder became Managing Director and Principal in 1987. He retained sole charge as other directors left the company. In 2003, Jon Beilby, David Howie, Nigel Sprent and Andrew Waddington joined Peter on the Board. Shortly after David Howie resigned. In January 2004 the directors relinquished ownership and shareholdings and registered as a company limited by guarantee. The directors felt that a non-profit making stance was right for a company involved in ethical psychotherapy training in the public arena. This ethos continues as the management of NCHP has been transferred to Shaun Brookhouse, Principal and Fiona Biddle, Managing Director, with Jon Beilby moving over to the position of Chief Examiner and Andrew Waddington becoming the College's Accountant in 2007. The current Chair of the Academic Board is Keith Thompson, Emeritus Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University.
