UKCP membership renewal 2011-2012

Please note that UKCP now administers membership renewals. Renewal documentation is sent directly from UKCP and your organisational member is no longer involved in this process.

In response to the effects of UKCP becoming a professional membership organisation on 5 December 2009, we have now introduced an online renewal system to process the high volume of individuals renewing their membership. This will speed up the process to ensure your membership is renewed efficiently.

FAQs: Renewals due during October 2011

You will receive an email from UKCP during the course of October informing you of the procedure for online renewal.

What will I receive from UKCP?

Why have I received my paperwork in the post if I can renew online?

If you have received your renewal paperwork by post, this is because we do not have your email address. In order renew online please email us at with 'Email address for renewal' in the subject line and we will email you back with the link to the online system. Please indicate in the body of the email whether you want us to treat your email address as either 'Public View' (available on Find a Therapist on the website) or 'Confidential' (for UKCP office use only).

FAQs: Renewal Payments

What is the price for renewing my membership this year?

UKCP annual membership is £194. The cost is reduced to £175 if you pay by direct debit in one instalment. This year UKCP is pleased to offer direct debit instalment plans that can help you spread the cost of membership over 2 or 3 instalments.

How do I renew online with UKCP so that I can pay the reduced fee of £175?

You can renew using the online system by following the link in the email you received. You can obtain the reduced fee of £175 if you pay by direct debit as a single payment (see above). Instructions on how to do this are within the online renewal system.

FAQs: Organisational members

What is an organisational member?

An organisational member is the organisation you joined UKCP through. This may have been your training organisation or your accrediting body. A full list of organisational members can be found here

How do I become a direct member of UKCP?

After 1 year of continuous membership with UKCP you may leave your organisational member and become a direct member of UKCP. If you do this you must notify UKCP within 14 days and indicate on your renewal form that you have left your organisational member and wish to register with UKCP directly.

What are the outcomes of leaving my organisational member and registering with UKCP directly?

If you become a direct member of UKCP, your UKCP membership benefits remain the same, you will have the same access to the Find a Therapist website, UKCP events and conferences, networks and forums. However, you will need to agree to be covered by the UKCP Central Complaints Procedure and to comply with the Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct Policy which can be found on our website here. You will need to be covered by the Central Complaints Procedure because your organisational member will no longer investigate any complaints that may be made against you if you are no longer a member with them.

With regard to reaccreditation, as a direct member (should you choose to become one) the UKCP college, which you automatically become part of, will advise you when this is due, and they will advise you of how to go about this process. Currently we are waiting for the Colleges and Faculty Committee to advise us of this process and the fees connected with it; as soon as they do we will share this information with all direct members.

FAQs: General

Please be aware that if your renewal paperwork is incomplete, we will return it to you and will not be able to process it until you complete and send it back to us.
