The Father's Shadow. With Jim Fitzgerald. The talk will explore the relationship between father and son, on the personal and archetypal level, taking into account particularly the effect of the negative aspects of fathering, the Father's Shadow. How this impinges on the son's life will be illustrated with reference to the biblical story of Noah and his sons. The conclusion suggested is that there is a close connection between the foundations of masculine identity in the son, and his experience of, and confrontation with, the Father's Shadow.
