Description
The West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy (WMIP) is an established and well-respected psychotherapy training institute. Currently there are two training programmes offered, both of which lead to UKCP Registration as a psychotherapist. The Qualifying Training Courses are:
· The Training in Contemporary Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
· The Jungian Training
On completion of either of these training courses, graduates are eligible for Associate Professional Membership of WMIP and membership with UKCP.
The Training in Contemporary Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (the TCPP) [formerly the Contemporary Freudian and Independent Training Course] was established in 1990. It offers a training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with adults to a standard which, if completed satisfactorily, will enable course graduates to apply for membership with the UKCP (CPJA section). Graduates of this course could expect to use this qualification in a wide variety of fields both within the private and public sectors. Twelve seminars a year are normally presented by senior analysts and psychotherapists from outside The TCPP. This takes place on Saturdays at the Postgraduate Centre of the City Hospital in Birmingham, is open to the public and makes an excellent introduction to the training for prospective students. Further information can be found at http://thetcpp.org/
The Jungian Training in Analytical Psychotherapy was founded in 1990 to promote the expansion in the West Midlands of a group of informed Jungian psychotherapists who practise responsible craft. The training itself is an intensive 4 year course in the theory and practice of Jungian analytical psychotherapy leading upon successful qualification to associate professional membership of WMIP and registration in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Section of the UKCP. The JTC also organises an annual series of six public lectures given by visiting speakers as well as members of the Midlands community. The lectures are original contributions to the theory of clinical practice from a contemporary Jungian perspective . |
