Group Analysis has its roots in psychoanalysis, sociology and systems theory. It is both a way of understanding group processes in small and large groups, from the family to the corporate company, and a method of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The theory of group analysis is based on the understanding that we are fundamentally social beings who are born into a group, the family, which itself is a member of a larger group, and it is here that we learn to relate to ourselves and to one another. In the analytic group the way in which we have learned to relate becomes available for analysis and understand. With these insights an opportunity for change is created. The curriculum includes the study of original and contemporary psychoanalytic and group analytic theories and clinical practice, including infant, adolescent and adult mental health. Qualification and Full Members of GASW is at the discretion of the Council of GASW, which considers the recommendations of its Training Committee. It is dependent upon satisfactory performance in and integration of the different elements of the training: personal group analysis, supervised clinical practice, theoretical work and written assignments. GASW's Codes of Ethics and Practice meet the requirements of the UKCP. GASW has an Equal Opportunities Policy, and offers a bursary for trainees from Training Yes Yes Yes | ||||||||||||
