Research FundingAlthough there are numerous funding sources for research, securing funding often takes a long time. Making sure you apply to the most appropriate funder to fit your context and the kind of research you want to do saves time and energy but does requires some initial leg work. A good place to start looking for research funding is RD info. This is a Department of Health initiative that lists research funding for researchers in health and social care - see http://www.rdinfo.org.uk/. At RD info you can find an extensive and comprehensive website that offers a range of different ways of searching for research funding e.g. by funding sources, closing dates, types of funding and research areas. You can also set up an alerting system so you can find out when relevant calls for funding are sent out. Another good starting point is the Directory of Social Change that can provide access to searchable databases of all types of funding at http://www.dsc.org.uk/FundingWebsites.
