Have your say

have your sayDuring the campaigning period (16 January-24 February), we provided four opportunities for candidates and members (both individual and organisational) to submit a statement for posting on our website.

Unfortunately, David Mazure has withdrawn as a candidate for UKCP Chair for personal reasons. This regrettable and unexpected news means that we now have as our two candidates Carmen Joanne Ablack and Janet Weisz.

Below are the statements received in support of the two remaining candidates.

Final candidate statements

Carmen Joanne Ablack

I'm committed to UKCP achieving significant impact on social policy, jobs and widened recognition of our profession:

Improving consultations and reintroducing general meetings:
giving members input to substantial issues and strategies

Promoting research that educates and enhances our profession through public recognition

Establishing a CCP that encourages dialogue and resolutions, and removes real transgressors from our register

I bring national external credibility, depth, breadth and proven ability to work collaboratively for the good of the profession and the clients.

Janet Weisz

I am offering UKCP my energy, passion and commitment, because I believe in our profession, our professional body and the work of our members and OMs - inside and outside the NHS.

We absolutely should be:

  • promoting ourselves better
  • running UKCP more democratically
  • supporting regional groups, not just London
  • sharing differences creatively and tackling problems together
  • taking the fight to the outside world and challenging prejudices in society.

If you share this vision, I am your Chair.
