AJA offers a training programme in the Theory & Practice of Analytical Psychology based on CG Jung's extensive volume of theoretical work. The programme is concerned with clinical, personal, social, intellectual and spiritual aspects of individual development. The training, in the context of sustained personal analysis, aims to provide a thorough analytic foundation. Within this, the development of a sound therapeutic practice cultivates a respect for the healing potential of the unconscious. The archetypal and prospective character of the unconscious forms the centre of clinical and theoretical work. In a practical sense, this means that the orientation of the training is on healing through symbolic transformation as well as the diagnosis, aetiology and treatment of symptoms. Dream analysis is an integral part of the therapeutic approach, as is analysis of the transferential nature of the relationship between therapist and patient. Accreditation, graduation, membership After qualification a candidate becomes an Associate Member of the Association and is entitled to UKCP and IAAP registration. Associate members are required to continue a five year commitment to the Clinic Scheme wherein the fees from two clinic patients are paid to the Association beginning at the date of seeing the first clinic patient. When this commitment is discharged, and not less than 3 years after qualifying, Associate Members may apply for Professional Membership. Code of ethics/ethical principals Candidates in training are bound to adhere to the Association's Code of Ethics and Practice as a condition of training.
