Are there ethical conflicts with statutory regulation?

Are there ethical conflicts with statutory regulation?
Not necessarily. But UKCP believes that the essence of psychotherapy is an honest meeting between two people.

This means that were any form of regulation to define psychotherapy as a medicalised (or manualised) treatment, where one person with particular expertise 'does something to' another person, then many UKCP practitioners would consider it unethical to be complicit with this definition of psychotherapy through the act of registration.
