Different modalities (types) of psychotherapy

The following are the types, or 'modalities', of psychotherapy represented in UKCP - our organisational members all belong to one of these. These brief descriptions are intended only as an introduction to the modalities.

Note: there are sub-groups within most modalities, and many UKCP psychotherapists undertake training spanning a different number of modalities as part of their continuing professional development. They then combine these in their practice depending upon the individual client and the nature of their problem.
