I work mainly using the powerful therapeutic approach of Transactional Analysis (TA for short). TA draws on several traditions of psychology including child development (i.e. the typical stages we go through growing up). I also use elements of other approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T for short, which focuses on the impact of our thoughts and feelings on our behavior), acceptance and commitment based work, as well as, mindfulness.
Generally speaking, my approach is to play an active part; where I ask questions, reflect, share theory and challenge where relevant. You are also required to be active in your change process.
A warm welcome to my page!
I presently work with adults on a one to one basis, offering a safe and none-judgmental space where you can access short-term counselling to long-term psychotherapy.
Counselling tends to be a shorter-term process, usually focused on problem-solving around a specific issue. For example, at work or in a relationship.
Psychotherapy is a longer-term process that involves going backwards to go forwards. Primarily by exploring your childhood experiences, the meaning you made of these, and how these thoughts, feelings and behaviors are not serving you well in the here and now.
I commonly support clients with childhood/developmental trauma, loss and grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, as well as, cultural issues.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
