Occasionally, you may not be entirely sure of your specific psychotherapy needs. However, you feel something does not feel right, or you only broadly know the issue, or there are many issues. Rest assured, these situations are not uncommon to the human experience.
The first step in my approach is to have an initial discussion for around fifteen minutes to see how we could work together. Following the initial discussion, if we wish to begin, the first few sessions involve exploring your background, what challenges you hope to address, and what is presently going on in your life that is impacting your wellbeing.
Concerning the types of therapy I integrate, I draw upon principles from psychodynamic, humanistic and existential practices. In doing so, I tailor these three core elements to suit your therapy need. Furthermore, the core elements integrate several other psychotherapy principles, such as internal family systems (IFS) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a researched approach involving self-applied bilateral stimulation on specific body acupressure points. EFT is commonly used in working with trauma or negative opinions and beliefs about oneself.
Following five years of training at Regent's University London, I hold a MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. The qualifications combined with experience and a focus on the therapeutic relationship provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space on a once weekly basis from my clinic in Brick Lane or Angel.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
