I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over 34 years of specialist training and experience in the NHS and private practice. I can draw upon a number of therapeutic approaches when appropriate, but I work predominantly in a relational, Psychodynamic/analytic way, helping people to understand how their past experiences led to their current emotional and psychological difficulties. I work with adults over the age of 18.
I trained in the NHS over a number of years, initially in Clinical Psychology and then specialist training in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. During my career in the NHS I worked with: children, adolescents and families; people with learning difficulties; adults, forensic settings and predominantly adult specialist psychotherapy services. My NHS work included working in adult in-patient psychiatric wards. My past work experience gives me a rich foundation and understanding of people across their life spans, and greatly informs the work I have done for the past 24 years in specialist, Adult Psychotherapy.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
