My name is Lee McOwan. I am a senior practitioner, having worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist since the year 2000. I am currently in private practice in the West End area of Esher.
I have extensive experience of working with people with a wide range of difficulties. So many of us experience life as unbearable, confusing and disappointing. Listening to your story, I will have insights into how your past has left you with ingrained, unique, and not always helpful ways of dealing with the relationships and circumstances you find yourself in now. These insights in themselves can give you a feeling of relief. Then as you understand and put together your own story, you will start to come to terms with yourself and those around you, and feel more comfortable in your own skin.
Problems I can help you with include but are not limited to:
Stress and anxiety
low self esteem
relationship problems
panic attacks
self-harm
eating disorders
loss and bereavement
depression
performance anxiety

My early career in the arts, management, education and publishing has given me a strong understanding of the pressure to perform while coping with relationships, life changes and problems. I first trained as a Counsellor with Relate then I went on to study at the renowned Metanoia Institute where I gained an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy in 2007.
From 2000 until 2005 I was a Counsellor and Student Support Co-ordinator working with students at ALRA - a performing arts college in Wandsworth then from 2005 until 2009, I was a Counsellor at the University of Essex.
Since 2010, I have chosen to work in private practice with adults.
I am a UKCP accredited Psychotherapist, and a Person-Centred and Integrative Supervisor
